  • What is the difference between "online workshops" and "tutorials"?"
An Online Workshop is a tutor-led session. It's just like our workshops at Hobbycraft, but done with webcams. The workshop is led either by Debbie or me (and sometimes, both of us are there, two tutors for the price of one!), and we will guide you through the whole creation process. We're here to help you every step of the way, we answer all your questions and check on your project every step of the way. Last but not least, we have a lot of fun! Tutorials are pre-recorded workshops. This is a recording of Debbie or I doing a project, packed with explanations and guidance. This is a self-led session, where you watch the video and craft along. You can email us if you have questions or are getting stuck.
  • What program do you use for Online Workshops?
We can use quite a few, depending on your own setup, but we tend to prefer Skype or Google Hangouts. We can also use Facebook Messenger / Rooms, or Zoom for 1:1 classes. In general, just let us know what your preferred program is and we will try to accomodate it. Audrey will get in touch with you to let you know what's possible!
  • Why are the kits sold separately from the workshops or tutorials?
This allows us to give our lovely customers full flexibility to purchase what they need. Some of our customers are completely new to Powertex and Mixed Media, and need kits to go with their first workshop. Others have already done workshops with us and have leftover Powertex from a previous kit, or they are crafters with some supplies of their own. This usually means they don't need more supplies, and they're only interested in the tuition.
  • Can I get in touch if I have questions after attending a workshop?
Absolutely! Our new customers will usually create a piece on their own after attending one of our workshops, and they are quite successful at it! It's normal to have questions or doubts, so don't hesitate to contact us.
